All the artworks here have been created since I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer on the 3rd January 2018.
I have undergone many tests and MRI scans etc., and it was found that the cancer had damaged the fifth vertebrae in my spine. This affected my mobility and I had to start using a wheelchair. I am learning to walk again although I probably won’t be able to get back to my original fitness. Perversely I am more creative now than ever before, so it was vital for me to maintain this level of creativity. However in order to do this I had to come to terms with making one of the most difficult decisions of my life, which was not to go ahead with Chemo Therapy because of possible side effects which could impact on my ability to function at the highest level. I therefore chose Hormone Therapy which has considerably less side effects and has proved to be effective in the long term. I am continuing to teach and undertake book/exhibition projects. I believe in the power of creativity to maintain a very positive day to day outlook, constantly working on new projects and artworks to develop an optimistic mental attitude.

I will have twenty pieces of art on display at the Pop-Up Fringe Event on the 25th October. Subjects include: Architectural Abstracts, Abstract Trees, Serendipity and Water Reflections. I continue to create and further develop my artworks and I will have a new catalogue of my textile designs (Silk Scarfs) on display at the Pop-Up event.
